Booking information for tours organised by Braunschweig Stadtmarketing GmbH
Public tours
Tickets:
Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.
Ticket purchase:
Registration is required by 24 hours before the beginning of the tour. Outside the opening hours of the Touristinfo, tickets for guided tours/Oker readings can be purchased directly from the tour guides or raft suppliers (subject to availability). We would be pleased to send you your tickets by post, subject to a 3€ service charge (minimum of 5 days prior to the tour, against pre-payment).
Cancellation:
In the case of a tour (due to bad weather or the failure to reach a minimum number of participants) being cancelled by the Braunschweig Stadtmarketing GmbH, all participants will be informed at least 24 hours before the tour/trip; for this reason, address and telephone number details are required when purchasing a ticket.
Concessions:
Children under eight years of age can take part free of charge in the tours offered by the Braunschweig Stadtmarketing GmbH (except for children’s tours). School children, students, apprentices and trainees and the seriously handicapped are entitled to a 50% price reduction, upon presentation of their identity cards, for the following tours: Sightseeing stroll through the Lion City, Richmond Palace, 1000 steps through time - from the modern era to the Middle Ages, View from the Town Hall tower.
Group tours
Meeting point supplement:
For starting points or final points outside the inner city (Oker moat waterway) a fee of 15.00 euros will be charged in addition to the tour price.
Booking changes:
A reduction in the number of persons is not possible following a binding booking. The booked number of persons is binding for the billing. In the case of more persons attending than booked, a subsequent billing will be made. A change of booking (subject to availability) can be carried out for the following change requests: date, time, meeting point, increase in the number of participants. For each change of booking following receipt of an invoice, we will charge a processing fee of 5€.
Reimbursement:
In the case of fewer persons attending than booked, prior to or following completion of a service, the difference will not be reimbursed!
Cancellations:
Cancellations, changes and re-bookings will only be accepted in writing.
If the customer cancels a guided tour with due notice (5 days before the tour), no costs are incurred. Later cancellations will incur 50% of the agreed tour price. The declared minimum number of participants is binding for invoicing purposes.
If the customer cancels on the day of the guided tour or fails to attend, the group will be invoiced the full price.
Payment:
In cash following the guided tour or by invoice from the tour guide upon request.

Tour guide:
The Braunschweig Stadtmarketing GmbH mediates tour guides. The mediated tour guide is responsible for the execution of the ordered tour. The tour guide is responsible solely for the mediated tour guidance of the contracting parties and not for further ordered services in connection with the tour, such as e.g. coach rental.
Replacement of the tour guide: Despite the confirmation of a specific tour guide, it may be possible that, for personal reasons and at short notice, a different tour guide must perform the arranged tour as a replacement for the mediated tour guide.
Waiting time for the tour guide: The tour guide shall wait for the appearance of the group for 30 minutes after the appointed time. The mediated tour guide is available from the appointed time for the booked time including waiting time: The elapsed waiting time is at the expense of the appointed tour time.
General
Maximum number of participants:
The maximum number of participants in a group is 25 (for readings on a raft: 45 persons). In the case of more persons wishing to participate, the corresponding number of tour guides will be provided.
Tours for children:
The accompaniment through an adult is a prerequisite.
Entering buildings:
Entering buildings within the course of a tour is carried out at one’s own risk!
Tour of the Town Hall tower:
Entering the Town Hall tower is carried out at one’s own risk! There are 161 steps to overcome; a lift is not available.
Tour of the Burgplatz:
During events (e.g. Burgplatz Open Air, Braunschweig Christmas Market), restrictions on visiting the Burgplatz may apply and the view of the lion may be limited or not possible at all. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Tour of the inside of the Dom:
The tour of the Dom costs 1€ per person and must be paid in cash in the Dom. This entrance fee is not included in the stated tour price in the booking confirmation.
In the case of official church acts (worship, baptism, wedding, etc.), it is possible that, at short notice, the Dom cannot be viewed from the inside despite previous confirmation. This does not affect the agreed tour fee.
City tours by bicycle:
Own bicycles must be brought. Rental fees are not included in the stated tour price. Information concerning the rental of bicycles can be found at: www.braunschweig.de/tourismus/freizeit/fahrradrouten.
Information for coach travel groups:
The entry and exit point for passengers is in Casparistraße at the corner of the Hagenmarkt. From there, the city centre is only a few metres away.
Free parking for at least 10 coaches is possible at Europaplatz. From there, it is only a 5-minute walk to the Altstadtmarkt (Old Town Square) and the Kohlmarkt. The trams M3 and M5 provide a connection to the city centre.
We are not willing to participate in dispute settlement proceedings before a consumer conciliation committee.
