The Braunschweig Harbor on the Mittelland Canal with its four reloading points, provides connections to the Ruhr area, Berlin and even Hamburg (by way of the Elbe side canals). The transfer of goods reached a magnitude of approx. 750,000 t. There is direct access to the DB railway network through the harbor railway of the Hafenbetriebsgesellschaft Braunschweig GmbH.
